The French Quarter is buzzing with excitement, and it's not just the usual charm you expect.

The streets are coming alive with a fresh mix of events that are bringing a new energy to the neighborhood. With music, culture, and special anniversaries, this year's French Quarter Fest is offering plenty reasons to explore the heart of New Orleans whether you're a first-time visitor or longtime local.

Festival Kickoff Parade

The French Quarter Fest kicks off in style on Thursday at 10 a.m. with the vibrant Festival Kickoff Parade, where fans, organizers, sponsors, and partners come together to bring the fanfare from Bourbon Street to Jackson Square for the highly anticipated Opening Day Ceremony.

Dance Lessons & Performances at French Quarter Fest

During French Quarter Fest, the French Market Traditional Jazz Stage and the Chevron Stage will come alive with free dance lessons and performances. These sessions, presented by the French Market Corporation, invite festival-goers to learn and enjoy various dance styles, including traditional jazz, 1920s Charleston Swing Dance, Cajun, jitterbug, and Zydeco. Professional dancers lead these classes opens these lessons to all of any skill levels to celebrate New Orleans' rich cultural heritage.

Calliope Concerts on the Steamboat Natchez

Another unique feature of French Quarter Fest are the daily Calliope Concerts aboard the Steamboat Natchez. These 15-minutes performances occur along the riverfront every morning at 10:30 a.m., 1:45 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. With melodies resonating throughout the French Quarter, the Natchez adds a distinctive backdrop to the festival experience. The concerts are free and offer a charming blend of history and entertainment for anyone of all ages.

Black & Loud Fest

Locals will be pleased to hear that the French Quarter Fest After Dark series is still continuing strong with its nighttime programming to keep the festivities lively into midnight. This year, French Quarter After Dark is centered on Jack Daniel's Black & Loud Fest, a dynamic music festival focused on amplifying the voices of alternative Black artists such as Omari Neville and the Fuel, King Youngblood, Cyril Neville, Shamarr Allen, Irvin Mayfield, and more. Black & Loud Fest will happen on Thursday, April 10, and Saturday, April 12, in the House of Blues' Parish Room from 9 p.m. into the night. Ticket prices range from $17.50 to $20 to join this venue.

Big Sam's Funky Nation at Good Measure

Big Sam's Funky Nation at Good Measure is set to electrify the stage at Good Measure on Friday, April 11 at 8:30 p.m. as part of the After Dark series festivals this year. As an energetic performance between the Black & Loud Fest events, this bass funk band will bring the roof down at Barnett Hotel, so don't miss out. Tickets are $20 for general admission.

Chevron STEM Boat: A Voyage of Discovery

Set sail for an adventure like no other with the Chevron STEM Boat from the Riverboat City of New Orleans on April 12 and April 13 from 11 a.m to 5 p.m. This journey will let children see the wonders of maritime science, marine biology, and the rich culture embedded in Louisiana's waterways and boats. 200th Anniversary of Marquis de Lafayette's Visit

On Saturday, April 12, from 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. in Jackson Square, the Louisiana Museum Foundation in collaboration with the Louisiana State Museum will commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Marquis de Lafayette's visit to New Orleans. A key historical figure in the American and French Revolutions, he was crucial in securing America's independence as George Washington's right hand. Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser will introduce a historical reenactment of Lafayette's address to the people of New Orleans to honor Louisiana's rich history and Marquis de Lafayette himself.

Steamboat Natchez 50th Anniversary Jam Session

On Sunday, April 13, at 9:30 p.m. the Steamboat Natchez will host its special 50th anniversary Jam Session as a part of the French Quarter Festival's After Dark series, featuring a one-hour cruise along the Mississippi River accompanied with live jazz performances from various local artists. Guests can enjoy specialty cocktails, beer, and wine as well as a snack bar. Reservations are required for the event.
