New Orleans Public Library Partners with Glassroots

The New Orleans Public Library is partnering with Glassroots, which is a non-profit part of Glass Half Full, to produce a free glass recycling program to Uptown every month.

The New Orleans Public Library has announced that this program will be expanding to a third location, which will be at the Milton H. Latter Memorial Library, located at 5120 St. Charles Ave. Residents may bring their used glass to this location on the third Friday of every month from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

The new glass drop-off location at Milton H. Latter Memorial Library is the only Glassroots drop-off location Uptown.

Glass Half Full is the only glass recycling facility that offers free drop-off services to New Orleans residents. However, since the facility is located in New Orleans East, the drop-off center may be difficult for all residents to access. In order to fix this, the New Orleans Public Library decided to team up with Glass Half Full's non-profit program, Glassroots, which offers two satellite drop-off locations for residents who seek a place where they can recycle their glass for free.

Within the last seven months, the library has aided Glassroots in moving 5,150 pounds of glass from landfills to Glass Half Full's recycling program.
