With the Lenten season comes the tradition of fish fry events to give locals a space to observe the holiday and embrace tradition.
Most of the fish fries throughout New Orleans are hosted by church communities and local organizations as charity events. Families and friends gather and enjoy fried fish with sides such as corn and stewed veggies as well as desserts throughout the Lent season.

1. All Saints Catholic Church

All Saints Catholic Church will be hosting fish frys for every Friday this Lent season (March 21 & 28; April 4 & 11). For 15$ a plate, All Saints will be serving fried fish, macaroni & cheese, potato or green salad, vegetables, French fries, and hush puppies. They will also have à la carte options including $3 crawfish balls, $8 filé gumbo, and six hush puppies for $8.
2. Blessed Sacrament/St. Joan of Arc Church

Blessed Sacrament, also known as St. Joan of Arc Church and located in Carrollton, will be hosting fish frys for each Friday in Lent from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Their menu includes $15 fish plates with peas, potato salad, mac & cheese, and a drink.
3. Blessed Seelos Church

Blessed Seelos Church will offer fish frys from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for each Friday this Lent season. Their menu includes an adult plate for $15 that includes two pieces of fried fish, coleslaw, mac and cheese, green beans, bread, and a drink. It also features a kids plate for $6 with one piece of fried fish, a side of their choice, bread, and dessert.
4. Good Shepherd Parish, Basilica of St. Stephen, KC Council 3411

The Basilica of St. Stephen Good Shepherd Parish in Uptown New Orleans will host fish frys on March 21 and April 4, 11 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The fish fry will be offered through drive-thru only and serve plates consisting of fried fish, French fries, corn, and coleslaw for $12 each. Food will be served at the back of the church on General Pershing Street.
5. Holy Name of Mary and Santa Maria KC 1724

The Church of the Holy Name of Mary and Santa Maria will serve fish frys on each Friday of the Lent season. Their plates include French fries, green beans, coleslaw, bread and butter, cocktail sauce, and tartar sauce along with your choice of fish, shrimp, or a combo of the two. Fish plates are $15 each, fish and shrimp combo plates are $16 each, and shrimp plates are $17.
6. Mater Dolorosa

Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church will host two fish frys during this Lenten season on March 28 and April 11 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Their plates will consist of two fish filets, French fries, mac & cheese, coleslaw, garlic bread, and a soft drink or water for $15 each. The Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church is the archdiocese of the New Orleans Catholic Church and provides leadership in this region.
7. Our Lady of Guadalupe Knights of Peter Claver 394

Our Lady of Guadalupe Knights of Peter Claver 394 will be hosting fish frys on March 21, 28, and April 11 from 10:30 a.m. until they sell out of plates. Their plates consist of five to seven fried fish fillets, potato salad, mac & cheese, vegetable, bread, cake, and a bottle of water for $10 each.
8. Our Lady of the Rosary

Our Lady of the Rosary will be hosting fish frys after the Stations of the Cross ceremony on March 21 and 28 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. For $12 each, their plates consist of fried catfish, coleslaw, French fries, and green beans with beverages and desserts available for purchase separately.
9. St. Augustine Church

St. Augustine Church is hosting a fish fry on March 21 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in a drive-thru format. St. Augustine's will offer a $10 fried fish plate with sides included. St. Augustine's church sits at the heart of the historic Tremé neighborhood and is welcoming to all.
10. St. David

St. David's Church will be hosting fish fry's on every Friday of this Lent season, except for Good Friday, from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. St. David's will offer a variety of plates including catfish or shrimp plates for $13 or a combination plate for $15. Each plate include potato salad, mac & cheese, sweet peas, break, cake and a soft drink.
11. St. Dominic

St. Dominic's church will host a fish fry on Friday, April 11 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. They will be serving adult plates for $15 with either shrimp, catfish, or a combination with mac & cheese, coleslaw, and French bread or shrimp with Creole cream sauce over pasta and French bread. They will also offer kids plates for $10 each including shrimp, catfish, or a combo with mac & cheese and French bread for dine in or take out.
12. St. Joseph Church

St. Joseph's Church a fish fry on April 11 at 6 p.m. to close out the Lent season this year. Their plates will include fish, mac & cheese, and salad for a donation amount of you choice to support St. Joseph Church.
13. St. Josephine Bakhita

St. Josephine Bakhita will be hosting fish frys on March 21, March 28, April 4, and April 11 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Their plates will include fish, mac & cheese, potato salad, a vegetable, and dessert for $13 each. They will also be offering free soda or tea.
14. St. Katharine Drexel Parish

St. Katharine Drexel Parish will be holding a fish fry on March 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with delivery available for five or more plates. For $15 a plate, their plates will include fried or blackened catfish with potato salad, baked macaroni, peas, bread, and dessert. There will also be extra fish, macaroni, or potato salad available for purchase.
15. St. Maria Goretti

St. Maria Goretti Parish will host fish frys on March 21, April 4, and April 11 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Their plates will include fried or baked fish, baked mac & cheese, a vegetable, potato salad, bread roll, and dessert for $15 per plate.
16. St. Martin de Porres

St. Martin de Porres is hosting a fish fry every Friday this Lent season except for Good Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. or until they sell out. Their plates include two pieces of fried or baked fish, mac & cheese, potato or green salad, dessert, and a drink.
17. St. Paul the Apostle

St. Paul the Apostle will be holding a fish fry every Friday during this Lent season from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Their plates include fried fish, baked mac & cheese, potato salad, peas, bread, dessert, and water for $12 a plate, with additional fish available for $3.

St. Peter Claver will be hosting a fish fry for every Friday during the Lenten season from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for $12 a plate. Their plates include fried fish, peas, potato salad, and mac & cheese. Drinks are available for $1 each, and the food will be available for pick up in the parking lot.
19. St. Raymond and St. Leo the Great

St. Raymond and St. Leo the Great will be serving fish fry plates each Friday of this Lenten season from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for $14 each plate. Each plate will consist of farm-raise catfish, peas, mac & cheese, potato salad, and a drink and will be available for pick up at their address on Paris Avenue.
20. Ursuline Academy Community Fish Fry

The Ursuline Academy will be hosting their community fish fry on March 21 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in a drive-thru format. Their plates are 23$ and consist of fried fish filets, potato salad, green beans, and a roll. They also offer a kids plate with a pizza slice and fries for $5, as well as beer, wine, soft drinks, and water available for additional purchase.
