More About Krewe de Pink
Krewe de Pink, who held their first fundraising event in 2011, is a group of passionate volunteers impacted by breast cancer and inspired by its survivors. The popularity of the event led the group to partner with Hard Rock cafe to host "BreastFest," which involved three parties in one night including a VIP event, a second line, and live music at Hard Rock. The group came together as an official 501(c)(3) non-profit group in 2015 with the mission of raising funds for innovative breast cancer research at the Tulane Cancer Center and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
As an unassociated nonprofit, the group raised over $45,000 for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and has broadened their impact across Louisiana since establishing themselves as an officially tax-exempt charity. Krewe de Pink uses New Orleans' celebratory spirit to organize events that benefit the further prosperity of Louisiana and the greater breast cancer community and has donated over $210,000 to the Tulane Breast Cancer Research Center.
Krewe de Pink Events
Krewe de Pink hosts fun events for everyone including the Pink Bra Run, Death by Chocolate....NOT Breast Cancer, and the Krewe de Pink Prom. While this is just the beginning of the festivities that Krewe de Pink is a part of, some of their signature events have become staples across the community and have grown over the years.
The Pink Bra Run is an annual event in Old Gretna on a relaxed Saturday morning. Going much further than your typical 5K race, the Pink Bra Run encourages participants to walk/run/ride in whatever style they like, ending in a Festival of Hope. Ensuring that everyone can participate, you can sign up to walk/run remotely and even sign up to sit in your pink bra on your couch in solidarity. You'll find dogs wearing bras and pink tutu's galore at this fun event, featuring a best decorated bra competition, survivor's dance, and all the food you could hope for.
The Death by Chocolate Fundraiser is a 21+ event where Krewe de Pink has combined a chocolate tasting with a night of champagne, jazz, and pink costumes. With chocolate donated by Callebaut Chocolate, guests will participate in a live competition, rate the chocolate-inspired dishes throughout the night while sipping bubbles by Josh Wine Cellars, and enjoy a local jazz combo.
