The Bower restaurant on lower Magazine Street "steaked out" some Old Fashioneds
The contemporary eatery stepped out of it's comfort zone and into the days of Robber Barons and Mad Men for an off-the-menu lunch.
Executive Chef Marcus Woodham hosted a very special Steak & Old Fashioned Lunch, in which guests savored a delightful two-course lunch priced at $50 per person.
Bower Caesar Salad
Little Gem lettuce, parmesan, anchovies, pangrattato, house Caesar dressing
12 oz. New York Strip
Choice of bordelaise or au poivre sauce
Served with crispy new potatoes and creamed collard greens
"It was the first time Chef Marcus has cooked steak here," a manager confided. "We weren't sure how it would go over but everyone seems to be enjoying!" He did not share if was to be a regular menu item going forward.
The lunch was paired with a generous Old Fashioned, mixed with with Buffalo Trace bourbon, priced at $10 each.
"The steak & Old Fashions were delicious," said Col. Ed Shedlock, head of The Original Bourbon Club's French Quarter chapter. "Had a great time."
While the steak was served medium rare, and not well done, it was done well.
