Where Y'at Magazine Captures Multiple Awards
Press Club of New Orleans President Doug Mouton—who moonlights as the sports director at WWL-TV (the CBS affiliate in New Orleans)—welcomed attendees to The Cannery in Mid-City to reveal the winners of the club's annual Excellence in Journalism Awards.
Members from broadcast, print, social, and new media, as well as public relations firms, ad agencies, and communication publications at local universities enjoyed an elegant reception followed by the announcements of the winners.
Beyond the awards, the Press Club also gave tributes to recognize the recent passings within the local media community. Among the people honored were long-time WGNO sports reporter Ed Daniels and producer Mark Deane, whose sudden loss within the previous month shocked New Orleans.
Lifetime achievements awards were presented to WDSU on-air talent Ro Brown, who broke color barriers in New Orleans TV news, and WWL's Eric Paulsen as the longest running morning news anchor in New Orleans, spanning over four decades.
The Press Club of New Orleans awarded Where Y'at Magazine top spots in multiple categories, as well as placing in another at their annual Excellence in Journalism Awards:
