BBQ Drive-Thru for a Great Cause

By: Lawrence Bourgeois

The teams of Hogs for the Cause are coming together once again to sell delicious barbecue platters as well as sandwiches. It's the perfect window of time to get gameday snacks for the Saints game this Sunday, and you can pre-order any number of barbecued goods and pick them up at a drive-thru at Rally Cap Brewing in Baton Rouge. The specific address is 11212 Pennywood Ave., and you come in anytime between 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to pick up your order. Do note that tomorrow, Thursday, November 5, is the final day to make the pre-order. Fret not if this seems sudden, however, as the pre-order process is quite simple and will not take you long at all. Simply follow the link HERE and place your order.

Hogs for the Cause is a group consisting of multiple different food and drink providers who direct all of their proceeds towards the Hogs for the Cause Family Residence at Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital in Baton Rouge. The teams participating in this particular fundraiser are Bassets, Booze, & BBQ; Pigwick Club; and Squeal Your Face (any Deadheads here?). The two main attractions are single pulled-pork sandwiches as well as large platters that feed a typical group of four people. Single pulled-pork sandwich meals will come with the full array of sides, including potato salad, coleslaw, and baked beans in addition to the pulled pork. The single platter costs $14, while the Tailgate Platter offers the same delicious items just mentioned but in much larger quantities, for the price of $50.

If you have a hankering for barbecue and have time for a quick road-trip up to Baton Rouge, this fundraiser is more than worth your time and money. Every bit of the proceeds go directly towards the Hogs Family Residence, which provides free lodging for children being treated at the aforementioned Lourdes hospital branch.
