Baton Rouge Paramedics Called to Walmart Over Face Mask Fight

By: Sofia Gomez Alonso

According to WAFB Channel 9, a fight erupted on Tuesday at a Walmart in Baton Rouge after a man confronted a female employee about not wearing a mask. The local authorities reported that the man was exiting the store when the employee, who was evidently upset for having been called out for not using a face covering, proceeded to punch him in the face.

Paramedics and the sheriff's office were called to the store, situated on Burbank Drive, after the fight erupted early in the afternoon. Allegedly, another female employee tried to stop the altercation. Upon the arrival of the paramedics, the man refused treatment for his bleeding nose. The deputies stated that the woman was issued a summons for battery.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the store's policy requires all customers (and employees) to wear face coverings when they enter the store, as a health measure.
