Melba's Poboys is partnering with the Clinton Foundation and LaundryCares to open a literary space at Wash World, 1525 Elysian Fields Ave, where they will host a free Laundry Day Event on Wednesday, June 19, from 9 AM to 1 PM for the space's grand opening.

The LaundryCares Foundation is an organization committed to providing laundry services and education to impoverished families at laundromats across the country.

Many low-income families lack the resources to provide their children a foundation of literary skills before they begin school.

"These literacy spaces provide books plus a comfortable and engaging setting designed to foster opportunities for children to read and learn while their families' clothes and linens are laundered," the foundation said in a press release. "Guests can bring an unlimited amount of laundry to the event and will receive free laundry products to help clean their clothes."

While guests clothes are washed, children can enjoy a variety of entertainment, from reading and lunch to sno-balls, face painting, and door prizes. Families can also bring home free children's books.

"We are very excited to bring our national event back to the town that inspired the creation of the LaundryCares Foundation and where we held our first LaundryCares event," said Jeff Gardner, Chairman of the LaundryCares Foundation.
