Author Night at Latter Library with Stephen Maitland-Lewis
An Author Night will be held on Thursday, November 2, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Milton H. Latter Memorial Library on 5120 St. Charles Ave. Stephen Maitland-Lewis will be there to discuss his novel Legacy of Atonement.
This Author Night event will take place in the library's dining room and will be moderated by New Orleans writer and producer Jon Pult. The discussion will be followed by a chance to meet the author at the book signing.
Maitland-Lewis' Legacy of Atonement is an alternative history thriller where the legacy of World War II meshes with the intricacy of The Cold War in the 1950s. This fast-paced tale will make you question the past, as well as the present.
Set in the spring of 1959, a minor mistake in a wire transfer at a Swiss bank leads to the discovery of the CIA's plans to launch a nuclear attack on the leaders of the USSR and China and to install Hitler, who is still alive and hiding in South America, as the leader of Western Europe.
Maitland-Lewis is an award-winning author, British attorney, and former international investment banker. He is also a member of PEN, The Authors Guild, and The Dramatists Guild of America. Additionally, Maitland-Lewis is on the Executive Committee of the International Mystery Writers Festival.

Maitland-Lewis' first collection of short stories, Mr. Simpson and Other Short Stories, was a finalist in the 2021 Best Book Awards in the Fiction, Anthologies category. This short story was developed as a play and has been performed by noted theatre companies in Miami, New Orleans, and Beverly Hills.
Other novels by Maitland-Lewis include Duped, Hero on Three Continents, Emeralds Never Fade, Ambition, and Botticelli's Bastard. Today, Maitland-Lewis divides his time between California and New Orleans.
