The Toups Step up With Daily, Free “Family Meals”

By: Kim Ranjbar

Mid-City neighborhood restaurateurs Isaac and Amanda Toups of Toups' Meatery are doing their part to support the community, cookin' up free "family meals" daily to anyone in need, and not only their employees. Like many New Orleanians, the duo are survivors of the 2005 levee failures and are fully cognizant of how crucial it is for a community to band together and help one another through times like these.

With generous donations from local companies like Dixie Brew, French Truck Coffee, JV Foods, Mawi Tortillas, Natco Food Service, Port Orleans Brewing and more, the Toups have been able to offer daily "family meals" such as Isaac's scallop "couvillion" and mustard greens, braised beef tacos, grits and grillades, red beans and braised oxtails over Louisiana rice, and chicken and sausage gumbo. The duo is also bringing free "family meals" to entire ICU units working tirelessly in our local hospitals.

Anyone individuals interested in donating to the Toups' effort can through Venmo @toupsmeatery. Vendors seeking to make in-kind donations of food or packaging should contact the couple directly by emailing
