Satchmo Summerfest Goes Virtual for Its 20th Anniversary This Year

By: Caroline Hebert

Satchmo Summerfest's "Seven Days of Satch," presented by Chevron, will host a virtual tribute starting July 27 through August 2.

Even though the Summerfest will be hosted virtually does not mean the music stops. Many artists and bands will be in attendance starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 1.

The virtual celebration of Louis Armstrong and Satchmo Summerfest's 20th anniversary will begin with thematic programming on WWOZ and an Armstrong-themed cooking demo on WWL-TV. August 1 and 2, viewers can tune into Facebook Live to enjoy original performances by Satchmo Summerfest artists.

Artists such as Satchmo Seminar, Hernin Riley, Treme Brass Band, and more will be playing live for your enjoyment.

Despite the hardships COVID-19 has brought to our talented musicians, the show must go on for all to enjoy. To continue practicing social distancing and to keep performers and guests safe, the fest has gone virtual, but that does not mean that the fun is limited. Friends and families (in small groups) can gather to enjoy the music our great musicians make for all to hear.
