Amid business closures and layoffs spurred by the pandemic, Second Harvest Food Bank has seen a massive spike in public demand, nola.com reports. In order to support this local hunger relief agency, Popeyes has committed to funding one million meals. The company will use the revenue it generates from its new NOLA Strong package, which sells for $28 and includes a dozen pieces of chicken, six biscuits, two sides, and a NOLA Strong-branded hat and t-shirt. Customers can purchase these packs, available for pickup or delivery at all locations, through the Popeyes app. They can also buy apparel separately at nola-strong.com.

In order to promote the campaign, the fast food chain released a video featuring New Orleans actor Wendell Pierce. Popeyes has also announced that it will make a significant contribution to the Big Easy-based nonprofit Feed the Front Line NOLA, which is keeping numerous restaurants afloat by hiring them to cook for healthcare workers.

With thousands of New Orleanians now in need of food assistance, Popeyes's initiatives are more crucial than ever. Split one of their delicious meal packs with your quarantine buddies today. All proceeds will go towards their pledge of helping the hungry.
