Pop-Up Magazine Brings Literature to Life at the Civic Theatre

It’s like stepping into the pages of a magazine where the never-before-heard stories are accompanied by visual art, animation, and live orchestra and more. There is no way to foresee the surprises in store for this multimedia show.  Pop-Up Magazine’s “Winter Issue” invites anyone who enjoys learning about their world in new and interesting ways to attend their multi-faceted show on Friday, February 23 at 7:30 at the Civic Theatre.

In this issue of Pop-Up Magazine, local historical topics will be discussed along with stories of current world affairs, scientific discoveries, and much, much more.

Artists include National Geographic photographer David Guttenfelder, BuzzFeed reporter Albert Samaha, Rolling Stone reporter Brittany Spanos, and filmmaker Veena Rao in addition to several other notable speakers.

“It's long been a dream of our's to bring Pop-Up Magazine to New Orleans, and we're so excited to finally be doing it! We're especially excited to have novelist Nathaniel Rich and photographer L. Kasimu Harris join us to tell stories that delve into New Orleans culture, alongside our other amazing contributors. There are sure to be laughs, tears, and a few surprises,” explained Pop-Up Magazine’s Senior Story Producer Anita Badejo.
