New Orleans Jazz Orchestra to Reopen With New Concert Series

Get ready! After 16 long months of the COVID-19 pandemic affecting many local musicians, The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving both New Orleans music and culture, will be hosting an upcoming renewed concert series on August 11 at 4 p.m.

The event is to take place at New Orleans Jazz Orchestra Market located at 1436 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd., will feature artistic director Adonis Rose, and NOJO will include their new record release Petite Fleur. Among others, the concert series will also feature Germaine Bazzle, Cyrille Aimee, and Tarriona "Tank" Ball. Details of the November 6 Gala featuring Big Freedia and Blaq Rhapsody will be revealed. They are now accepting RSVPs through Eventbrite.com.

The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, which will celebrate its 20th anniversary next year, has been home to a host of local and international jazz artists in the city. Per its press release, the orchestra won a Grammy Award in 2009 for its mission of "creat[ing] opportunities for musicians and artists, while cultivating an inspiring environment for young musicians."

Adonis Rose says the new board of directors "is excited about opening the Jazz Market and welcoming our supporters to our fall concert series. The community has been supportive of our organization through the pandemic and we can't wait to perform for our audience again!"

According to Latoya Bullard-Franklin, NOJO Board Chair, the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra proudly offers their services to the community for local nonprofits, musicians and educational opportunities.
