Does the Upcoming Election Have You Dazed and Confused?

By: Blake Anderson

All right, all right all right! Sunday, October 11, approximately two dozen actors and actresses from the classic movie Dazed and Confused will reunite virtually for a live script reading. Some of the memorable cast members who will be featured in the live reading are Matthew McConaughey, Parker Posey, Anthony Rapp,Adam Goldberg, Willey Wiggins, and, of course, Ben Affleck. Patton Oswalt will moderate a Q&A after the reading. The live reading of this 1993 Richard Linklater film is to raise awareness for voting in the upcoming 2020 Presidential Election and to raise money for the March for Science foundation, as well as the Voto Latino Foundation.

The March for Science foundation believes that the application of science that strengthens human rights, addresses injustices, and improves conditions for all species in national policies would benefit our world. The Voto Latino Foundation is dedicated to helping Latinx voters get registered, and they encourage civic participation. This year, the Presidential Election will take place on Tuesday, November 3, with President Donald Trump running for re-election against Joe Biden. Voting is an American right that everyone over the age of 18 should take advantage of.

Dazed and Confused follows different groups on their last day of school. The incoming freshmen are trying to escape the new seniors and the annual hazing. Some seniors are planning for the future, while some are avoiding it. Set in Austin, Texas, in 1976, the film portrays high school teens creating new bonds and getting ready for a memorable summer.

Join the cast at 6:30 p.m. this Sunday as they come together again to reminisce on simpler times and encourage you to use your voice in the 2020 Presidential Election.
