By: Emil Flemmon

On Saturday June 24, former Tulane football player and spinal injury advocate Devon Walker will host the second annual Celebrity Charity Basketball Tournament. Doors will open up at 5 p.m. with the game following an hour later at the Avron B. Fogelman Arena in Devlin Fieldhouse at Tulane University. Tickets are only $10 and can be purchased at or at Eventbrite. The family-friendly event is also free to kids ages five and below.

For the second year, entreprenuers and celebrities from the NFL, NBA, and the arts will join the foundation for a team game, skills challenge, and three-point shooot-out. A silent auction will be in held, along with giveaways, concession stands, a dance-off, surprise performances, and autograph opportunities for the kids. The event will be hosted by Power 102.9's Tara Jae and will include a line-up of players including Willie Snead and Thomas Moorestead of the Saints, the New York Giants' Orleans Darkwa, and plenty more star power.

Walker's foundation was created after he suffered a paralyzing spinal injury during a regular-season game back in 2012. Trying to draw positive strength from the accident, Walker wants to help others who fall victim to spinal injuries to have better resources for a more productive life. He serves as an inspiration to others. With a bachelor's degree in Cell and Molecular Biology, Walker is working towards his master's degree in Neuroscience.
